Background

Glock introduced the G19 in 1988 as a compact version of the original G17, and it quickly became one of the most popular handguns ever made. Its mid-size frame is small enough to carry comfortably but large enough to shoot well, which is why it has become a standard choice for police officers, military units, and civilians around the world.

The Gen 5 arrived in 2017, shaped largely by the FBI’s pistol trials. Glock removed the finger grooves from the grip, added an ambidextrous slide stop lever, flared the magazine well for faster reloads, and introduced the Glock Marksman Barrel, which uses a refined rifling design for improved accuracy. A tougher nDLC finish was added to the slide and barrel for better corrosion resistance.

Glock pistols are carried by a large share of American law enforcement agencies, and the G19 Gen 5 is one of the most common duty and off-duty guns in service today. These pistols come from a New Jersey agency and were carried and fired as working duty guns. For buyers who want a proven, department-issued Glock with factory night sights already installed, an LE trade-in is hard to beat.
